An Alternative Way to Give: Lancaster, PA Alternative Gift Fair

The 8th annual Lancaster, PA Alternative Gift Fair will be underway on Saturday, December 12 from 10 AM to 4 pm at the Lancaster Farm and Home Center (1383 Arcadia Road – see map for directions). Thirty non-profit organizations will be offering inspiring gifts that reach beyond a physical present. When purchasing a gift from one of the organizations, you do so in honor of a loved one.

“Many people are familiar with Heifer International,” Jenn Knepper explains, “where you purchase a cow in honor of a loved one. The cow provides a regular source of both nutrition and income, as family can not only sell the milk, but also provide milk regularly for their family.”

A paralleled idea to Heifer International (which will be available at the Alternative Gift Fair) is the gift of honeybees. Providing someone from around the world with honeybees not only produces income through selling the honey, but it also helps the local agriculture through pollination.

The Alternative Gift Fair challenges us to not only be forward thinkers but to also spend our money wisely. We all love to give gifts to friends, but the Alternative Gift Fair is the best way to give back to the world, not just our familiar circle.

Give the gift of honor for a cause that will last.
