Scoops Ice Cream & Grille will holding their 7th annual colossal banana split benefit to raise money for cancer prevention. A 300 foot long banana split, coming in at the size of a football field, will be constructed at 6:30 pm and 100% of the proceeds from the banana split will benefit the American Cancer Society. Last year’s event raised over $3000 for the ACS.
The event begins Saturday at 4 pm with a car cruise, live music, bounce houses, a car smash, carnival games, and a showcase of the local community including vendors, fire department and police department. Creation of the banana split will begin around 6:30 pm.
To create a split of this size, over 400 individual banana splits will be constructed. To put this in perspective, that’s over 150 lbs of bananas, 81 gallons of ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry), 75 lbs of toppings (chocolate, pineapple, strawberry, cherries, and sprinkles), and over 60 cans of whip cream.
