Crystal Weaver – 2017 Innovator

For Crystal Weaver, innovation is a matter of seeing potential and seizing opportunity when it presents itself. This was the case when she created Prince Street Cafe, which has become a landmark spot in Lancaster in the years since its inception. The space, formerly a futon store, was sitting empty for some time before Weaver evaluated the financials and decided to take the leap. Afterward, she happened upon Kyle Sollenberger, a frequent customer at Prince Street Cafe. Sollenberger would soon become her partner in Passenger Coffee, both a separate roastery and now a popular cafe on King Street. The partners have just settled on the property that houses the Passenger coffee shop and will be renovating the upstairs as an event space. Finally, 2017 will be the start of construction for the much-anticipated Surveyor Hotel on Prince Street, in what is currently a vacant lot/pop-up park. It’s unimaginable that this will be the last opportunity seized by Crystal Weaver. We suspect that her innovations for downtown Lancaster—and the impact she makes on the city—will continue for many years to come.
