I was incredibly impressed by the successful story of Eric and Ashley Pettis. Eric, at the young age of 24, is the Executive Assistant to Lieutenant Governor Mike Stack at the Capitol Building in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Ashley, who is just 23 years old, is a real estate agent with Lusk and Associates Sotheby’s International Realty.
In the summer of 2014, Eric met Ashley on the dance floor of Tellus360. A year later, Eric asked Ashley to be his wife on the steps of the capitol building where he now works. They keep themselves very busy with their successful careers, but when clocked out of their jobs, they truly are just downright fun.
Every weekend, the Pettis’s teach swing dancing at Lancaster Swing Dance. Eric has been swing dancing for six years, and Ashley has been swing dancing for three. It seems fitting that they met while moving and grooving on a local dance floor, and the common passion for swing dancing definitely excited them when they met. They have entered swing dancing competitions together in North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Austin and Indiana, and have even won awards!
Eric’s educational background consists of political science and economics. During college, he interned at the Department of State and (at that time) Senator Mike Stack. Once Mike Stack was elected as Lieutenant Governor, Eric was offered a position in the Lieutenant Governor’s office as his Executive Assistant. “It was my goal to be young and successful. I have always strived to be successful,” Eric explains. “You can’t just sit there.”
Ashley has a very artistic background. She went to film school in California and absolutely loves everything having to do with both film and architecture. She has been inspired by house flipping shows on channels such as Home Network, which eventually lead to her interest in real estate.
Aside from swing dancing, the two really enjoy travelling around the world. They also own a Shetland sheep dog named Bruin who they love to go on walks and play ball with.[pullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]”Ask yourself if what you’re doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow.” — Anonymous[/pullquote]
