Galentine’s Day

Galentine’s Day

[pullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”#981a7c” class=”” size=””]”Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it breakfast style. Ladies celebrating ladies. Also, frittatas.” – Leslie Knope, Parks and Recreation.[/pullquote]

So. Galentine’s Day is an actual thing. I think Valentine’s Day is great because it’s an official, scheduled day where we can show our significant other some love. It kind of serves as a recalibration technique within a relationship, which, let’s face it, is totally refreshing sometimes. However, some us just really need sappy girl time, too. And there is nothing wrong with that, ever.

So, I’m going to challenge all of you, fine female readers, to throw a Galentine’s Day party for your friends on February 13, 2016. It’s a Saturday night (which is perfect), and the perfect way to celebrate the powerful female relationships you currently have in your life.

I’ve organized a couple of ideas here, with the help of Assistant Editor Maddy Pontz, for your fabulous Galentine’s Day celebration of 2016!

Potluck Brunch Picnic
In typical Parks and Recreation Galentines fashion, host a potluck brunch picnic in your own home! Light candles, lay out some blankets and cushions, and play some relaxing music. Create a mimosa bar with fruit nectars and bubbly. Create an omelet station with various fillings.

Grade School-Style Dance Party
Decorate your place with all things cheesy from the dollar store. Buy some big paper hearts, streamers, conversation hearts, and make some heart shaped cookies! You could have a Galentine making station or request that everyone bring some handmade Galentine cards.

Adamstown Spa & Antiquing Day
Kill two birds with one stone: schedule group manicures or hair stylings for you and your ladies in the morning at Styles Underground (2800 North Reading Road, tucked away in Stoudt’s Antique Market), and hit up all the fun antique stores in Adamstown afterwards (Mad Hatter, Adamstown Antiques, etcetera).

Pottery Painting Party
Book a private party at Jen’s Pottery Den! Starting at just $14 a person, you can book a private party room for two hours. You can even bring in your own cake and decorations if you wish. Make it fun! Dress in pink and red.

Let’s get fabulous, ladies!
