We often hear folks lament about the good, old days and how things seemed so much better then. This sentiment does not hold true in orthodontics where there have been many advances leading more patients, both young and old, to seek an improved and healthier smile. Drs. Tim Snyder and Manish Lamichane continue to push the envelope with orthodontic treatment just like Drs. Andy and Rusty Long did in the good, old days.
LOA now utilizes 3D imaging which gives superior diagnostic information compared to 2D imaging. They also use digital impressions which replace traditional gag-reflex inducing molds for Invisalign treatment. Expanded use of Invisalign, Suresmile, clear braces and hidden braces sets them apart from most other Orthodontic offices. Expertise with technology has resulted in a reduced average treatment time at LOA from 25 months to 18 months.
As for when to begin treatment, the ADA recommends that all children have an evaluation by an orthodontist at age 7. Keep in mind that eight is great and nine is fine, and only 1 in 4 children actually require treatment at that age.
In summary, patients seeking orthodontic care are at a tremendous advantage compared to even a few years ago. Orthodontic specialists can now gain expertise with a much better toolset to create beautiful and healthy smiles. So the next time you hear someone lament about the days of yore, send them to LOA: they’ll set them straight!
