Kevin Ressler, the head of Lancaster’s Meals on Wheels program, understands that innovation is often multi-faceted. Yes, his objective is to get as many hot meals to as many people as possible, but he recognizes that doing so begins with the groundwork. It may be surprising to hear, but Kevin considers technological software upgrades to be his greatest contribution to the program so far. Efficiency is key, and time is of the essence – especially when there are hungry people waiting. Aside from transforming the business structure of the program, Ressler has increased grant funds from $20,000 to nearly $100,000.
Ressler hopes to bring his strategy to the Mayor’s office this year, as he runs for Lancaster City office. His first project? Housing. “There are roughly fourteen thousand rental properties in Lancaster City,” he said. “We need to have an efficient process to check on these properties, to ensure that the quality of homes they are for tenants, is safe and appropriate for the people living in them.” He intends to conduct regular inspections to ensure just that. Look for Kevin Ressler on the campaign trail, we’re confident he will be voice for change that you want to hear.
