Penn’s Pix For Flix

The cool winter air is upon us and soon the reliable Lancaster Ice will be upon us as well.... but fear not, for this winter promises some heartwarming stories that I think will go on to become feel good classics. And if we need anything right now, it's to escape with some stories of hope, the promise of wonder and the joy of imagination.

Mary Poppins Returns (12/19) is the big one. Starring the always inspiring Lin Manuel Miranda, you know the music is going to be wonderful. We all know and love this timeless character. If Poppins doesn't bring out your imagination and wonder then you're just not trying! But there is another tale to be told. Our friends at The New Main in Ephrata are playing The Polar Express (12/14 to 12/18) which, as you know, is Robert Zemeckis' masterpiece. Well, this winter, Mr. Zemeckis is at it again! He is teaming up with Steve Carell to bring us Welcome to Marwen (12/21). The main character, Hogancamp, draws on his imagination to find strength and as such... lays out a path to hope.

The wonder of imagination. The power of hope. That's good stuff. That and another cup of cocoa may very well be all we need to get each other through to the spring!
