Transforming Garages, Restoring Peace
Meet Amanda and Tyler Witman –a husband and wife team and the owners of PremierGarage of Lancaster, a business dedicated to calming chaos that creeps into neglected spaces.
“We’re doing something that we believe has a direct impact on people’s quality of life,” Amanda shares. “When you come home, and most people come home to their garage space first, what’s the first thing that you see? For 95-percent of people, it’s complete and total chaos.”
Prior to business ownership, Tyler worked at an auto dealership selling luxury cars in Lancaster, while Amanda worked in communications and cared for their two young children.
“The car business was great for us for a time, but it was a hard life for a young family,” Amanda says. “Entire soccer seasons would go by and [Tyler] wouldn’t make it to a single game because they were always on Saturdays.”
Amanda notes that the job demanded long hours, including evenings and weekends.
“We [were] feeling like we needed to make a change for our family that would allow us to spend more time together, but we just didn’t know what at first,” she says.
Enter PremierGarage: a company that brings together the couple’s previous career experiences and passions into a business that would fuel them creatively and support the needs of their young family.
“He loves cars. I love storage and organization. We both really, really wanted to have an opportunity to do something together,” Amanda says. “We are pursuing a mission that enables us to bring peace to people’s lives in an area that they didn’t even know they needed it.”
At PremierGarage of Lancaster, Amanda handles the sales and design side of the business, while Tyler manages operations and product installations. Together, this dynamic duo provides highly individualized storage solutions to eradicate clutter for the long haul.
Each project begins with a site visit, during which Amanda scopes out the space and begins to create a tailored, customized design plan. In addition to learning about the space, Amanda uses this time to connect with their clients.
“I absolutely love people,” she shares. “People are a passion for me. I’m very relationship-oriented. This role enables me to meet homeowners and build relationships with them. I enjoy being able to help our customers solve problems.”
After measuring the space and getting a sense of what each individual client is looking for, Amanda brainstorms ways that they could provide an aesthetically-pleasing and functional space. Whether a homeowner needs a garage with immense storage capacity, a drop zone that an active family could utilize as a mudroom, or a workbench decked out with drawers and workflow improvements—their team designs a customized plan based on the customer's unique lifestyle, incorporating elements like cabinets, bespoke workbenches, storage solutions, and flooring options. For particularly challenging projects – where the dimensions may differ from a traditional garage space – the team at PremierGarage is able to engineer custom tailor-made cabinets that use the unique aspects of each space to its advantage.
“Every single piece that we design is custom fit and then custom cut by our production facility in Indiana, for each individual client,” Amanda shares. “We don’t offer standard size cabinets like a big box store. Everything we create is made-to-order within an eighth of an inch to complement each customer's unique space.”
After each piece has been designed and produced, Tyler and his team begin the installation process. As the design is brought to fruition, Amanda and Tyler hope that their clients will discover a fresh peace of mind in their homes.
“We create spaces that customers didn’t know they had,” Amanda says. “They didn’t realize they could use their garage as a place to hang out, but after we’re done, you absolutely can and should be able to use it that way. Good is not good enough for us. We want a great result.”
