The Upcoming Millersville University Visual & Performing Arts Season 2017—2018, out now
The Millersville University Visual & Performing Arts department recently released its 2017—2018 season list of performances and (no surprise here!) the year ahead looks wonderful for the performing arts in Lancaster. Just a sampling of the shows we’re so excited about for the coming season:

Friday, September 15, 2017 at 7:30 PM
Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 2 PM
Rafters Theatre in Dutcher Hall
A “modern, multi-disciplinary interpretation based on Madame Butterfly by John Luther Long,” Butterly is the first theatre offering in this year’s schedule, but we predict that it will have an impact on its audience members long after the September show dates are over. This performance will include handcrafted puppets and “visually poetic narrative and movement” to tell the story of one woman kite maker. (Another amazing thing about this performance? It’s supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts. Go Lancaster arts community!) Tickets are $18/person, general admission.

The Ware Center
Stunning singer, songwriter, and trumpeter Bria Skonberg kicks of Jazz in the Sky with an intimate show we can’t wait for. Tickets for the Ware Center’s special Jazz in the Sky series are $20 each for reserved table seating, with the option to purchase food or a nice beverage to sip during the performance. New York City-based Skonberg is really something else—you won’t want to miss this rising jazz star.
Lightwire Theatre: A Very Electric Christmas
Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 7 PM
Clair Hall in the Winter Center
Fun for the whole family, this glow-in-the-dark holiday show is sure to be, well, dazzling. Kids of all ages will love Lightwire Theatre’s mix of glowing visuals, dance, theatre, and puppetry, which is well known from their turn as semi-finalists on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” With so many amazing holiday shows in Lancaster each year, it can be tricky to decide which ones to spend your money on. Well, for $10/adult ticket ($5/MU student), this light show extravaganza seems ‘shockingly’ worth it.
And, of course:
