February is here and we all know how quickly our planners start to fill up with meetings, lunch dates, and more. Here are a few events being held at the Trust Center for you to add to that mix!
Trust Concert: Boyd Meets Girl
Enjoy the sweet musical sounds of this husband and wife duo, classical guitarist Rupert Boyd and cellist Laura Metcalf. New York-based Australian classical guitarist Rupert Boyd is acclaimed as one of the most talented guitarists of his generation. He has been described by The Washington Post as “truly evocative,” and by Classical Guitar Magazine as “a player who deserves to be heard.” And, visiting The Trust for the second time, cellist Laura Metcalf, is a member of award-winning string quintet, Sybarite5. Acclaimed for her “gorgeous cello legatos” (Washington Post) and her “sensitive, melodic touch” (Blog Critics Magazine), Laura Metcalf is known for her compelling solo and chamber music performances. This husband and wife duo has given performances throughout the United States and Australia, performing works from baroque to modern day.

Trust Conversation: Educating All God’s Children
All children have God-given potential but many children in our nation’s public schools are not yet realizing that potential. By the time kids in low-income communities are in fourth grade, they’re already three grade levels behind their peers in wealthier communities. More than 50% won’t graduate from high school—and many that do graduate only perform at an 8th-grade level. Only one in fourteen will go on to graduate from college. These students have severely diminished opportunities for living life to the full.
However, there is good news: educational inequity can be eliminated. In this presentation education expert, Nicole Fulgham, will delve into the problems that cause educational inequity in the first place and what people of faith can practically do – and are doing already – to help seek justice for all God’s children.
