An Update on 8 Myles, Gourmet Mac n' Cheese & Sauces
It’s been a little over five years since 8 Myles officially began and my, oh my, how things have progressed. I always like to reminisce on the origins of my entrepreneurial dream. Sitting at the dining room table in my one-bedroom apartment in Harrisburg, PA, I salivated at the thought of one day running my own food brand.
And here we are! 8 Myles has continued to expand along the East Coast. Our Mac n’ Cheese is now available for purchase at more than 100 locations, including Giant via Peapod and Whole Foods, both in-store and via Amazon. While it’s still primarily a team of one, the support, advice, and encouragement along the way has made it seem like a team of many.
8 Myles began by making a line of BBQ sauces. The first store that carried our products was Zest! in Lititz, PA. It was an amazing learning experience, as it was my first time diving into the world of retail. It was also during these early years that I was featured in a Fine Living Lancaster cover story! I have always considered that moment a turning point for my business; it was such a motivational boost to my vision and lit a fire under me that propelled me to keep pushing. Since then, our headquarters moved to Washington, D.C. (where we are now located) and our products can be seen on shelves from Richmond, VA, all the way to upstate New York.
In addition to our sauces and line of Mac n’ Cheese—of which we currently have three varieties: three cheese home-style, buffalo, and BBQ—we are currently working on a line of Mac n’ Cheese bites! I’m hopeful these will be available by early August 2020, at the latest.
My goals are lofty. I guess I like to dream big and push myself. I’m hopeful that by summer 2021, 8 Myles will be a staple-brand in the frozen food section and our expansion down South and out West will be well underway!
I cannot thank Fine Living Lancaster magazine and the entire region enough for providing me with a platform and encouraging me to pursue my dreams. I’m extremely excited to see what’s in store next for 8 Myles!
