Hey!

We are a lifestyle magazine serving the people of Lancaster, PA

Clare House

Clare House

Clare House transforms the lives of women and their children through an employment-focused program, providing safety, housing, and supportive services with the goal of financial stability. We envision a community where all women and their children are empowered to build a stable foundation.

Since 1980, Clare House has helped countless women and their children through a proven mix of employment-focused programs, short-term housing, and goal-based services.

The Need
The women and children who come to Clare House do so out of necessity. It is common for residents to have experienced domestic violence or other forms of trauma before living at Clare House.

For many, the moment before entering Clare House is one of the lowest points of their lives. It’s our job to help them grow forward from despair to sustained success.

How We Help
We provide housing and support while residents save money, achieve gainful employment, and find housing. Our aftercare program offers continued support after leaving Clare House, including job counseling and service coordination.

We have recently implemented a more customized, phased approach to better serve our clients. This program is called Clare House Steps to Success.

Step One – Establish Foundation

  • Secure Reliable Childcare

  • Secure Employment

  • Outline Financial Goals

Step Two – Establish Community

  • Apply for Affordable Housing (if applicable)

  • Connect with Community Partners

  • Take Over Budgeting

Step Three – Transition to Housing

  • Sign Lease

  • Complete Exit Paperwork

Step Four – Aftercare

  • Begin Aftercare

What we have Achieved

Based on data points from 2019 through 2022, we have achieved the following:

  • Eighty-three percent of women who completed the program found housing.

  • Program participants, on average, increase their income by $5,015.

  • On average, clients improve their credit scores by 19 points.

  • Residents save an average of $2,027 by the time they leave the program.

  • Women in the Clare House program have been able to pay down an average of $1,312 in debt.

How You Can Help

Donating your time or making a charitable investment in Clare House pays real and tangible dividends. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we’ve helped hundreds of women — and we intend to do so for as long as the need remains.

Your donation will help us show them how much their community cares and how much we want them to succeed. Visit www.clarehouselancaster.org/donations for more information.
