Living
Living
I have always been fascinated by people and their actions/interactions with furniture. Do they treat it as a museum piece, as something that must be treated oh so gingerly? Or do they live with it as a true part of the stuff of life, as they would a pair of comfortable, old shoes?
One thing for certain, when I asked people to interact with some gorgeous piece of furniture for this series of portraits, it certainly made for a lively bunch of photos. I was happy to partner with Ville & Rue who provided the featured pieces (and therefore some of the inspiration!).
Something about sitting in a comfortable chair or leaning casually on a table makes a person immediately more relaxed. This, in turn, leads to a great opportunity to capture the subject’s true personality in a way that no posed portrait ever could. I certainly enjoyed making these portraits; I hope you’ll find the fun in them, as well.
