Nothing makes a house a home more than the love of family and friends, and a home-cooked meal made from the heart of a loved one. It’s a long-sourced tradition and it’s one Lancaster real estate agent, Jennifer Schaeffer, relishes in with her two sons as they spend time together experimenting in the kitchen of their Lebanon County home. As warm aromas wrap around them, it’s the same feeling that Jennifer wants her clients to experience as they find their place to call home.

Jennifer’s real estate career was something she discovered a few courses into the meal of her current life. From owning a coffee shop in Elizabethtown to managing a Country Club, her passion for the food and beverage industry created a perfect segue into her career as a real estate agent. “I have always been drawn to high levels of customer service along with the love of architecture and rehabbing homes... It felt like a natural fit,” she said. It is that attention to detail and customer satisfaction that launched a new course on the menu, and one that has been a satisfying part of Jennifer’s life and career ever since.

Now, Jennifer works for Lancaster-based Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage servicing the Lancaster, Lebanon, Harrisburg and West Shore areas, which is more broadly referred to as the Susquehanna Valley region. As a resident for over 15 years, she has an expertise and insight into the homes and neighborhoods which she also calls home. 

“To see the emotion expressed by the homeowners when they truly feel what a home can be to them and what it means to their families,” Jennifer says of her work. “It all comes down to people looking for a place to be happy, healthy and to build a life together.”

Recently, Jennifer joined Lancaster’s Agent Matchmaker, which has real estate agents and potential homebuyers take a quiz on interests, personality traits and values. The matchmaking algorithm then matches homebuyers and real estate agent profiles to make for a seamless relationship during the homebuying process.

With the housing market continuing to boom, there’s never been a better time to get matched with an agent like Jennifer. “The process of competing offers can lead to potential heartbreak, with an open line of communication, realtors and clients can navigate through the expectations,” Jennifer said.

With a passion for cooking and a foodie at heart, Jennifer’s favorite Lancaster spot is American Bar and Grill. “I can walk in after work with a pencil skirt on, or on a weekend with my ripped jeans, and always feel welcomed. That spot is so diverse and really represents Lancaster. It has a great sense of community. Amazing food, great drinks and even better people,” she said.
