The Women’s Business Center at ASSETS
Small business is the way of the future. And women entrepreneurs have a huge role to play.
Welcome to the Women’s Business Center at ASSETS.
Did you know that Lancaster County has 6x more male-owned businesses than women-owned businesses? Access to business ownership is not equitable and often includes major barriers for female and diverse entrepreneurs.
The Women’s Business Center at ASSETS houses many of ASSETS’ training programs, creating equitable business ownership and offering inclusive access to the tools and resources all entrepreneurs need. We empower female and diverse business owners to elevate their brand and build a more sustainable business model—all in a collaborative environment with like-minded individuals.
And—ASSETS’ impact is about to expand! We couldn’t be more excited for our new home at Southern Market, coming at the end of 2021. Built as a farmer’s market in 1888, Lancaster’s iconic Southern Market will once again bring people together over food. The centerpiece of the restored Southern Market is a world-class food hall featuring cuisine from ten up-and-coming local chefs—and you guessed it, many of them are clients of the Women’s Business Center at ASSETS.
When ASSETS moved into the Southern Market building in 2013, we knew that the location of the building was integral to our work. Southern Market sits at the fulcrum between the economically-thriving Downtown Lancaster and the often underrepresented communities of color to the south. ASSETS believes that Southern Market can serve as a zipper between these communities because of our presence within it—through the innovative work of our diverse and inclusive entrepreneurs and our mission to build an equitable and prosperous economy that works for everyone.
The Women’s Business Center at ASSETS will continue to be a hub of support to the new entrepreneurs that find us at Southern Market, and the faithful rock stars who keep coming back. Learn more at assetspa.org.
