Who is Timbrel? I’m Timbrel Chyatee, a first generation Indian-American and fashion designer with an immense love for global high-end fashion, culture, and jet-setting the world. When I explore the world, I learn more about people, cultures, history, and daily life. In return, my travel makes me a more compassionate, creative, and caring individual in life, entrepreneurship, and design.
I have called Lancaster my home for most of my life, with a few years living overseas in middle school and after college.
What can you expect if you follow Timbrel? I share travel, culture, and Brown Girl musings. I think the representation and voices of minorities on social media and beyond is important for us to better understand the ever-changing world we live in. A world where more and more people are coming together, leaving their homes for new homes, but never leaving their cultures that they carry with them. Personally, living my life in two different worlds and cultures, I find myself sharing views, thoughts, hardships of being a Brown girl in our world, as well as sharing the beauty of the world I explore. Whether that is museums, countries, markets—anything cultural and educational, I love.
What’s the most exciting opportunity Timbrel has had thanks to social media? Earlier this year, I went to Morocco; I was able to explore the beautiful country with a knowledgeable tour company that wanted me to share the details of Moroccan culture and travel with the world. In return, I was able to receive monetary compensation, as well as go on some unique and VIP experiences that many do not get the chance to go on. I also visited carpet weavers in their small town; after having some tea with the family of carpet makers, they gave me a handwoven carpet as a gift because they considered me a friend and wanted me to remember them. It was the most beautiful gesture, and I cherish that carpet very much. I always will.

What is Timbrel’s favorite place in Lancaster? I have so many favorite places, it’s hard to choose just one. But, I’d have to say I enjoy Onion’s Cafe for Korean food—it is literally mouth-wateringly good. I also have to add CHYATEE, my boutique at 101NQueen that is bringing art, elements of designer wear and artisan-made, and worldly fashion to Lancaster. I’m proud of CHYATEE, and when I’m in Lancaster, you can find me there.
